My African Tale

Already born a nomad, after leaving school in Sweden, Karin embarked on an epic journey travelling around the world for over a year. This journey culminated in an African expedition that took Karin through most of Africa.

It was during these travels that Karin realised the greatest travel tales she had made, were during her trans-continent crossing through the so called Dark Continent. The natural beauty, the colourful cultures, the rawness of the landscape and the abundance of wildlife struck a deep chord with Karin that would forever change her life.

Moving back to Sweden Karin specialised in designing African journeys for travellers back home and in the process creating life altering experiences for many clients through varied travel operators in Sweden. The call to Africa was too strong though and as they say “Once the African travel bug has bitten it is in your blood forever”.

An opportunity to work for one of Africa’s largest safari operators and eco-tourism companies brought her back to the continent, where she managed the Scandinavian reservations division in Cape Town. After years of designing safaris, Karin then opted to join a specialist Destination Management Company based in Cape Town to now focus on specialised travel to the Mother City (known as Cape Town locally) and South Africa.

This culminated in working as reservations manager for a small boutique specialist tour operator covering Southern as well as East Africa. After 20 years of working in African travel, Karin believes that the essence of true life altering travel, of creating the greatest story a client will ever have to tell is to be found in Africa. It takes great experience and ability to craft this special story... a personal story for each and every journeyman who travels to Africa and at Safari Tails we will help you to create your travel tale to tell...
